Loomis helps cut costs and improve safety for Fife County Council

The contract was won following Fife County Council’s move to address the safety issues associated with employees handling and carrying cash. In particular, the council was looking for a solution to support its introduction of Cashless Catering in schools, a system via which pupils load cash credits onto a swipe card.

With some schools collecting up £15,000 per week, a secure holding and safe transit solution was needed. This issue was addressed through the introduction of Loomis’s SafePoint anti-duress deposit units which securely hold cash and coins until removed by a Loomis guard ahead of transportation.

In addition to improving the safety of its employees, the solutions introduced by Loomis have helped save the council money, removing the charges associated with over the counter bank deposits.

“Fife Council operates a continuous improvement culture and this includes seeking cost effective, risk reducing solutions where possible. Working with Loomis and utilising the SafePoint service has assisted us with this process and given added security for staff and council premises,” said Robert Lamont, Fife Council. “This demonstrates that the introduction of a Loomis solution was the right decision.”
