Loomis UK has successfully achieved re-certification to the Carbon Trust’s Carbon Reduction Label, awarded in recognition of the business continuing to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with its cash and valuables in transit service.
In retaining its carbon footprint certification, Loomis has now continuously held the Carbon Reduction Label since 2011, independently demonstrating the company’s ongoing success in reducing the environmental impact of its core services thanks to its wider sustainability initiatives.
During the latest certification period, between 2014 and 2016, Loomis UK managed to reduce the carbon emissions associated with its cash and valuables in transit service by 7 per cent - comfortably exceeding its target reduction of 2 per cent.
Retaining the certification means that Loomis can continue to display the Carbon Reduction Label on the vehicles providing its cash and valuables in transit service.
Kenneth Högman, Country President of Loomis UK, said; “In 2011, we formally committed to reducing the impact that Loomis UK had on the environment through a strategic partnership with the Carbon Trust.”
“In 2013, as part of our re-certification, we were delighted to announce that we had exceeded our targets and again in 2015. Now, two years later, Loomis UK is proud to announce we have done so once more – and not by any small amount!”
As part of its wider carbon reduction programme, Loomis has taken the following actions:
- Developing a carbon management strategy to engage, communicate, and implement ongoing emissions reductions throughout the whole company;
- Appointing Green Champions to monitor, improve and drive environmental policy forward;
- Improving energy efficiency within branches, with new refurbishment work introducing LED lighting and motion sensors; and
- Training staff in more environmentally-considerate driving techniques.
John Newton, Associate Director at the Carbon Trust, commented: “It takes real commitment and concerted effort to continue to drive emissions reductions year after year, so Loomis deserves real praise for achieving re-certification to the Carbon Reduction Label for the fourth time in a row. We would like to congratulate everyone in the company whose efforts made this possible.”
