Long time Loomis customer WRVS is one of nine charities to benefit from Text Santa – a major new charity appeal launched by ITV1 that will raise money for vulnerable people over the Christmas period.
There will be two entertainment spectaculars – on 11 and 24 December - featuring major names in television, music and show businesses broadcast during the festive period on ITV1.
Viewers will be invited to Text Santa, or donate by landline, online or at their bank. Each charity will receive one sixth of the raised funds with the exception of the Hospitals for Sick Children, who will share their one sixth portion equally between them.
"This is terrific news for WRVS, for all those who volunteer for us and for those who benefit from our services", said Verity Haines, WRVS Executive Director for Fundraising and Engagement.
"To be selected as one of the nine charities to benefit shows how valued our work is. With the help of ITV1 we can deliver even more services to those who need them. Christmas can be an extremely lonely time for many older and vulnerable people but with the help of ITV1 WRVS will be able to ensure as many as possible who might otherwise be on their own will benefit from our Good Neighbours services, befriending schemes and local lunch clubs", Haines added.
To support WRVS and those who need a little extra help during the festive period, you can donate £1, £5 or £10 by texting ‘Santa1’, ‘Santa5’ or ‘Santa10’ to 70070. So get texting and send some joy this Christmas!
WRVS helps improve the lives of thousands of older people every day. They have 40,000 volunteers who provide a vast array of services from delivering hot meals to giving people lifts to do the shopping or attend medical appointments, to simply providing a bit of company.
