On Saturday 31st July, Britannia Tadcaster Football Club, sponsored by Loomis, placed 11 brave souls on the Tadcaster Albion football grounds to face the 1st Battallion Yorkshire Regiment in support of Help for Heroes.
Around 400 people witnessed a very tough football match with the local team Britannia FC "in support of Help for Heroes" nearly beating a fit and passionate 1st Yorks team.
Both teams showed immaculate respect for each other, the 1st Yorkshire towards Britannia FC for the charity work they will embark on this season for H4H and Britannia FC towards 1st Yorkshire for all they do.
The crowd were appreciative of the effort shown by both sides and the standard of football was excellent. The game finished 1-1 with 1st Yorkshire equalising in the dying minutes forcing a penalty shootout which they went on to win 4-2.
So 1st Yorkshire lifted the first H4H trophy and one of their players won Man of the Match.
A good day for everyone who took part and who helped raise over £2,500 for Help for Heroes.
Organiser and Brittania FC manager, Phil Zealand, said; "The 1st Yorkshire would love to come back next year before they are posted out to Afghanistan. We raised over £2,500 and there are donations to come in from the day. I must thank Loomis for sponsoring the event as we couldn't have made this happen without this support."
