BSIA lends support to cross-sector security hub operation

Members of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) are backing a cross-party partnership which will see private and public sector security operations collaborate in a new security hub.

Bsia.co.uk explains that the Safety and Security Communications (CSSC) hub came into existence to provide around-the-clock security operations at London Olympics 2012 events.

The CSSC - which is populated by members of the police, government and private security industry - will provide security updates to relevant organisations both pre and post-Games.

Up to four volunteers from BSIA-membership organisations will have an input in the day-to-day running of the security and communications operations which were set up to coincide with the start of the Olympic Torch Relay last weekend (May 9th).

All CSSC workers will benefit from advanced communications technologies provided by some of the contributing organisations. These include the Police BRONZE Community, the National Olympic Coordination Centre (NOCC) and the London Resilience Team.

Quoted by politics.co.uk, David Evans, the project director for 2012 at the BSIA, comments: "The BSIA is a strong supporter of the CSSC initiative, and to see that our members too have understood the benefits of becoming involved in it is very pleasing.

"In busy times when resources are already stretched, volunteering staff to carry out duties outside your organisation can be a big ask, so our members' commitment is not only appreciated, but also demonstrates the value of the project."
