Real-time traffic information is available online, updated every few minutes at: www.tfl.gov.uk/trafficnews. This also includes information about planned road works, events and other closures which may our operations.
TfL are also releasing a Freight Management Tool for the games - “PIE” this will be released in the next few weeks. The tool will enable us to identify traffic hotspots and make avoiding congestion easier. On the website, road users can view London's traffic hotspots to see where congestion is occurring, where traffic is building up (including access to a network of 170 'jam cams') in order to plan routes and decide which areas to avoid
Get Ahead of the Games (GAOTG):
With an additional three million journeys expected on the busiest days of the Games, at certain times and in certain places, transport networks will be much extremely congested, Individuals are asked to plan their alternative travel options at www.getaheadofthegames.com.
Representatives from TfL and LOCOG recently gave a seminar regarding recovery of broken-down vehicles on the ORN and PRN and in Olympic venues.
In the interest of clearing the ORN as quickly as possible, a vehicle recovery fleet dedicated to the ORN, will be provided throughout the Games period, located at strategic points to minimise response times. The fleet will provide capability to remove HGVs, buses and coaches, as well as lighter vehicles. Hours of operation will depend on date and location but will be generally be between 6am and midnight on key routes.
